Scuba diving and snorkeling excursions to nearby spots are easy to organize, as are open sea fishing expeditions and trips to the Mayan Ruins.  Tulum is only about 45 minutes away and a trip that your whole family will enjoy. 

Some of the other interesting places for visitors are a crocodile farm and botanical garden, both on the main highway and less than half a mile from the main entrance to Puerto Morelos.  At the farm, daring tourists can get close to these fascinating reptiles, while in the botanical garden, you can stroll through the jungle along with an incredible variety of animals (spider monkeys, iguanas etc.), and see various plant species from the region, a small Maya temple, a Mayan house with a display of traditional implements and a few ethnological exhibits.
